U.S. Ambassador Wayne Meets with President of the Chamber of Deputies Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo

Mexico City, February 9, 2012 – Ambassador Anthony Wayne met with President of the Chamber of Deputies Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo at the Legislative Palace in Mexico City to gain his perspective on the role and agenda of the Chamber. Deputy Acosta discussed the legislative priorities for the Chamber for the present legislative session, and he and the Ambassador explored ways the Chamber and the U.S. Legislative Branch might strengthen relations. 

Following the meeting, Ambassador Wayne said, “It was my pleasure to meet Deputy Acosta and to hear about the priorities for this legislative session.  Congress is an essential entity of any democracy, and its proper functioning is imperative to the balance of the federal government.  I look forward to a continuing dialogue with Deputy Acosta as President of the Chamber.” 

After the meeting, Ambassador Wayne attended a reception for the diplomatic corps at the Legislative Palace, co-hosted by Deputy Acosta.
