Ambassador Anthony Wayne Meets with Secretary of the Navy and Admiral Mariano Francisco Saynez

Mexico City, October 28, 2011 – U.S. Ambassador Anthony Wayne met with the Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR), Admiral Mariano Francisco Saynez.  They discussed U.S. and Mexican involvement in regional maritime exercises and how it will enhance training opportunities and strengthen interoperability among all participating nations.

“We greatly admire the courageous efforts that SEMAR is making to fight trans-national criminal organizations.  We closely cooperate with the Navy, the Army, and other Mexican agencies in those efforts, in full respect for Mexico’s sovereignty and Mexican law, for the mutual benefit of our two countries and our shared goals,” Ambassador Wayne said.  “I was pleased to have this opportunity to extend my congratulations to Admiral Saynez for SEMAR’s impressive track record in countering illicit trafficking.”
