Ambassador Wayne Leads U.S. Presidential Delegation to the Pan American Games in Guadalajara
Ambassador Anthony Wayne led the Presidential Delegation to Mexico for the Opening Ceremony of the XVI Pan American Games in Guadalajara on October 14th. Delegates included Ms. Julie Ertel, 2007 Pan American Games Gold Medalist in the Triathlon and 2000 Olympic Silver Medalist in Women’s Water Polo, and Ms. Allyson Felix, 2008 Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist, Women’s Track and Field and member of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness, Sports and Nutrition. On Saturday, the Ambassador viewed the early heats of the swimming competition, and visited the Pan American athletes village where he greeted the U.S. Synchronized Swimming Team and five-time Olympic champion Teresa Edwards, who was recently named chef de mission of the U.S. National Team to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
