Ambassador Wayne Meets with Mexican-Born Star of the San Francisco Ballet

Mexico City, November 17, 2011 -- Ambassador Anthony Wayne met in his office today with Isaac Hernández, the 21-year-old Mexican soloist with the San Francisco Ballet.

Ambassador Wayne said, “I was thrilled to meet Isaac after watching him debut earlier this week at the Palacio de Bellas Artes.  I think it is a huge honor for San Francisco and the United States, where he has lived since was 12, to watch and support him as he develops his extraordinary talent and as he reaches out to encourage and inspire others.  Isaac reflects the relations we would like to have between our two countries.”

Isaac Hernández’s November 14 performance at the Bellas Artes featured the world premiere of “A Moment to Dream,” and it included other dancers from the San Francisco Ballet, the New York City Ballet, and the Miami City Ballet.

Born in Guadalajara, Hernández will provide a master class to 70 dance students during his visit to Mexico City and will address up to a thousand others on how to develop their talents.   Hernández said, “We need something to give us hope and to show us anything is possible… I want to be a link between the arts and youth in general.”

“I am delighted that this bright, promising star is already looking for ways to serve as an example and instructor to young people,” said Ambassador Wayne.
