Visit USA Business Week Expo
Ambassador Wayne provided the keynote address at yesterday’s Visit USA Business Week Expo, an annual event that promotes the United States as the premier destination for Mexican tourists. Over 150 local travel agents attended the full-day event, which featured numerous seminars from U.S. destinations and other travel service providers, as well as an Embassy Consular official speaking about the tourist visa application process. At the conclusion of the program, each travel agent received certification in selling U.S. tourism packages to Mexican travelers.

Wayne said, “Aproximadamente 66 millones de visitantes internacionales
viajan cada año a los Estados Unidos. Y entre ellos más de 13 millones
vienen de México, más que de cualquier otro país excepto Canadá.” He
also added that, “durante 2012 la Embajada y consulados de los Estados
Unidos en México procesaron solicitudes de visa de más de 2 millones, un
verdadero logro, de los cuales fueron aprobados casi el 90 por
ciento.” This would not have been possible without changes to
the visa application process making it faster and more efficient for the
