House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer Leads U.S. Congressional Delegation to Mexico

From April 3-5, Representative Steny Hoyer led a delegation of ten members of the House of Representatives in a visit to Mexico. The group met with Attorney General Eduardo Medina Mora and other law enforcement officials. At the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) operational base at Iztapalapa, in Mexico City, they received a briefing on Plataforma Mexico, and toured the Command Center, the special operations units, and the helicopter program. The legislators expressed support for the Mexican government’s commitment to fighting organized crime and narcotrafficking, and pledged continued U.S. cooperation in those efforts.

Representative Steny Hoyer, Democrat of Maryland, currently serves as House Majority Leader in the 111th Congress. The other members of the delegation were: Representative Roy Blunt (R-MO); Representative Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA); Representative Gregory Meeks (D-NY); Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD); Representative Adrian Smith (R-NE); Representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA); Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL); Representative Norman Dicks (D-WA); and Representative Aaron Schock (R-IL).
