Mexico City, Mexico, October 20, 2006. – “The U.S. government through its Agency for International Development (USAID) will receive an award from President Fox recognizing its contribution over the past six years to the Fox Administration’s Good Government Agenda.
USAID is one of twelve international public and private agencies to be recognized during the Innova Forum on October 20 at the Auditorio Nacional. The Forum recognizes outstanding contributions in support of the Good Government Agenda. USAID Director Edward Kadunc will receive the award on behalf of the U.S. government.
The Good Government Agenda will be one of the enduring legacies of the Fox Administration. It has improved the internal operations of the Mexican federal government and the way it provides services to citizens. These contributions are central to improving Mexico’s global competitiveness. More work remains to be done, and we look forward to cooperating with the Calderón Administration to continue these efforts.
The U.S. government supports the Good Government Agenda by providing high level professional and technical assistance to state and local governments, as well as to the federal executive branch in the following areas: digital or e-government, regulatory reform, support for Mexico’s first federal Civil Service Law, citizen-centered government, and honest and transparent government, including training for the Access to Information Law.”
