Garza: “Guadalajara’s leadership deserves great credit for striking a balance between the past and the future. I can’t help but admire how this city has remained true to its rich history and architecture, while also looking forward to a high-tech future integrated with North America.”
Mexico City, August 18, 2006 – U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Antonio O. Garza is traveling to Guadalajara today, returning on August 19. Garza will visit several important institutions, including the University of Guadalajara and its new Center for North American studies, the Hospital Civil, and the Instituto Cultural de Jalisco. The Ambassador also will talk about the growing and dangerous trade in illegal methamphetamines and will speak at a private luncheon at the American Chamber of Commerce.
Ambassador Garza welcomes this opportunity to visit Guadalajara’s many interesting people and institutions and to see first hand the city’s growing role in the increasingly inter-related North American economy. He also welcomes the opportunity to acknowledge the friendship and ties between Mexicans from Jalisco and the people of the United States.
