Mexico City, November 29, 2005 -- A growing number of lost and stolen Laser Visas, also known as Border Crossing Cards, are being used illegally. As part of our efforts to combat fraud and make travel to the United States easier for legitimate visitors, anyone whose Laser Visa has been lost or stolen may seek a replacement by applying for an interview at any U.S. consulate in Mexico. We will replace lost or stolen Laser Visas with a traditional-in-appearance sticker visa that will be placed into the visitor’s passport.
Travelers who need to replace their lost or stolen Laser Visa must request a visa interview at a U.S. consulate by calling telephone numbers 01-900-849-4949, or 01-477-788-7070. They must also bring a police report concerning the loss or theft of their Laser Visa for presentation to the interviewing consul, and demonstrate their ties to Mexico.
