The U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez, the Mexican Consulate General in El Paso and governmental representatives of Mexico and the United States of America met today for a special session of the Border Liaison Mechanism (BLM) for the New Mexico and Chihuahua region. The Border Liaison Mechanism (BLM) is a joint governmental instrument to further regional bilateral dialogue, in which representatives from both sides of the New Mexico-Chihuahua border discuss issues of mutual interest, including public safety and law enforcement issues.
Today’s meeting is but one example of the level of commitment by both governments to encourage economic development and improve the safety and security of our citizens along the border. The meeting took place at the Santa Teresa Country Club in New Mexico and was presided over by the U.S. Consul General in Juarez, Donna M. Blair and the Mexican Consul General in El Paso, Juan Carlos Foncerrada.
