Mexico City, August 16, 2005 — The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that Ambassador Tony Garza will be the recipient of the University of Denver’s Distinguished Diplomat Award. This award honors individuals who have distinguished themselves in the field of diplomacy, and will be presented to Ambassador Garza in recognition of his leadership role in strengthening our important bilateral relationship with Mexico.
Ambassador Garza will receive this award at the University of Denver’s “8th Annual Korbel Dinner” on August 16. The Ambassador is proud to be recognized by the university whose graduate international relations program was founded by Josef Korbel, the father of former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Ambassador Garza is particularly honored to be a recipient of the highest award from the institution that counts Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice among its distinguished alumni.
