U.S. Ambassador to Mexico
|
Dear Fellow Americans,
Since 2002, I have had the great privilege of living in Mexico
as Ambassador. If your experience as a visitor or resident
has been like mine, I am sure you have found Mexico to be
a welcoming and fascinating country.
The Embassy's Consular Section, along with nine consular
posts and 14 consular agencies around Mexico, stand ready
to assist Americans in a number of ways. In case of accident
or emergency, they have resources to help in almost any situation.
They will also be happy to take your passport application
so you can comply with new and upcoming regulations that will
eventually require all American citizens to travel with passports.
The Consular Section is also able to help with information
on voting in the U.S. if you are overseas during a state or
federal election. Should you have any question or concern
while traveling throughout Mexico, I am confident that our
Consular Section will be able to help.
The Department of State has no higher priority than the safety
of American citizens abroad. I want you to know that I share
that priority and will continue to promote this goal in all
my work here as Ambassador. We will continue to provide announcements,
warden messages, and other information relevant to residents
and visitors alike on this website. The website also contains
information on how to register your travel or residence in
Mexico, so that you can receive important information by e-mail.
The Department of State encourages all Americans traveling
or residing abroad to register, to facilitate locating Americans
in times of emergency.
Whether you have moved to Mexico permanently or if you are
visiting Mexico for vacation or business purposes, I do hope
you enjoy your time in this wonderful country. Our Consular
Section’s web pages explain in greater detail how the Embassy
can assist you during your stay in Mexico. We are here to
help you.
Sincerely,
Antonio O. Garza, Jr.
