Citizens of countries other than Mexico are considered to be Third Country Nationals (TCNs) for visa application purposes. Third Country Nationals (TCNs) already in possession of a visa and who are currently present in the United States, or Third Country Nationals who are residing in Mexico (with an FM2 or FM3 status), may schedule an appointment to renew their current nonimmigrant visas (and/or that of their children) in Mexico. If you are a Third Country National (TCN) and do not possess a nonimmigrant visa and DO NOT RESIDE in Mexico, you may NOT apply for your initial visa in Mexico. Please apply in your home country or your last residence outside Mexico. Who Cannot
Apply in Mexico: PLEASE NOTE: If you were informed when you obtained the original visa in your home country that you are subject to National Security Entry Exit Registrations (NSEERs), are a national of North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Sudan or Iran, then you are not eligible to renew your visa in Mexico. Third Country Nationals residing in the United States who wish to apply for a visa in Mexico may make their interview appointment at any of the ten posts comprising Mission Mexico on-line at http://www.usvisa-mexico.com/ (click on "English" if necessary) or by phone at 1-900-476-1212. Appointment numbers are limited and may be unavailable at some posts because of other demands so flexibility in where you wish to apply is helpful. Please take into consideration that depending on your nationality, a trip to Mexico may require an appropriate Mexican visa and you must be prepared to wait several days in Mexico while your U.S. visa is being processed. Certain visa applicants may be subject to additional administrative processing. The administrative processing may take several weeks, thus delaying the visa delivery and the applicant's return to the United States. Every effort will be made to expedite these procedures; however, it is not possible to guarantee completion of this process by a particular date. How to Access The Service: The Self-Service Website is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at http://www.usvisa-mexico.com/ (click on "English" if necessary). In order to use the service the applicant must purchase a PIN for US$10.00 payable by Visa or Mastercard. Please note that the PIN will expire 10 days after the appointment date. If an appointment is not scheduled, the PIN will expire 90 days after purchase. The PIN provides for 3 scheduling opportunities so that an applicant can schedule an appointment and reschedule it up to 2 additional times if necessary. Appointments cannot be changed or cancelled within 5 business days of the appointment date. For further information the US Embassy Mexico Customer Service Center is available Monday through Friday from 7am to 9pm Central Time, and Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 3pm Central Time. There are several payment options for accessing the Customer Service Center, including a new option to pay by Visa or MasterCard via a toll-free number from the United States:
