Passport Book vs. Passport Card
Passport Book vs. Passport Card
Production of the U.S. Passport Card began in July 2008. The Card can be used to enter the United States from Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry. The Passport Card cannot be used for international travel by air.
The Passport Card is adjudicated to the same standards as a regular passport book. The card has the same validity period as a passport book: 10 years for an adult and five years for children 15 and younger. The cost for adult first time applicants is $55; $30 for adults who already have a passport book. Cards for minors cost $40.
