Working Hours (all times are Central Time):

  • Passport Services: By appointment only (except as noted immediately below) Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. through late-morning in room 106.
    • Drop-off DS-82 passport applications and request for additional passport pages: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in room 106 -- no appointment is necessary.
    • If you require special assistance or accommodation in making a passport or consular report of birth abroad appointment or other need please email us at MexicoCityPassport@state.gov. Please allow at least two business days for response. You may also call us at [52](55)5080-2000, ext. 4244 from noon to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday except holidays.
  • Reporting Birth Abroad: By appointment only, Monday through Friday. Follow instructions on the Reporting Birth Abroad page to obtain your appointment.
  • Special Citizens Services (deaths, arrests, missing persons, child abduction, and other U.S. citizen in Mexico emergencies):  U.S. citizens can visit Special Citizen Services between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday except holidays. We are located in the U.S. Embassy in room 101. You are encouraged to telephone to receive the appropiate guidance (an in-person visit may not be required).

Note: Special Citizen Services does not handle visas or immigration information requests.

  • Notary Services: By appointment only Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in room 106.
    • If you require special assistance or accommodation in making a notary service appointment, please email us at MexicoCityPassport@state.gov (allow at least two business days for response) or call us at [52](55)5080-2000, ext. 4244 from noon to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday except holidays.
    • Apostille / Authentications:  The U.S. Embassy and its Consulates do not issue apostilles. See http://www.apostilleinfo.com/usa.htm for more information.

    During Business Hours: Dial 5080-2000 x4440 to reach American Citizens Services.

    Outside Business Hours: Press "0" to speak to an operator and ask to be connected to the Duty Officer. Note: this service is ONLY for assistance in an emergency directly affecting a U.S. Citizen in Mexico.

    Please note the above phone numbers are NOT for visa inquiries.

    If you are in Mexico, help may be closer than you think. Determine if there is a Consulate or Consular Agency near you that can help. Find your nearest American Citizens Services location.

    U.S. citizen emergencies include but are not limited to arrests, deaths, hospitalizations, air ambulance, and victims of crime.

    Routine services include but are not limited to passports, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad and notarials.
