Ambassador Garza Announces $5 Million Dollars for the Environment

On October 15, 2007, during a ceremony marking the completion of the "Parks in Peril" program, Ambassador Garza announced an additional $5 million dollars to support conservation, forestry, and global climate change programs this year. (See press release)

In the auditorium of Mexico's National Commission of National Protected Areas, Amb. Garza reiterated the committment of the U.S. government to bilateral cooperation with Mexico on environmental issues. (See full text of the Ambassador's remarks)

Amb. Garza receives a recognition diploma from the various officials Dr. Jim Reiger, Program Manager for the Parks in Peril program; Rosario Alvarez, Director of the Mexico Program for The Nature Conservancy; Juan Elvira Quesada, Secretary of the Environment and Natural Resources; and Dr. Ernesto Enkerlin, President of Mexico's National Commission for Protected Areas, presented Amb. Garza with a certificate of recognition for the support the U.S. government has provided to Mexican parks.
