Valentine’s Day Donation Delivered to Children of AMANC

On February 14, 2007, Amb. Garza and representatives from the Embassy community delivered the donation of an industrial-sized washer and a check for over USD $15,000, along with clothes and toys, to Guadalupe Alejandre, founder and President of the Mexican Association for Assistance to Children with Cancer (AMANC).

AMANC gave a friendly welcome to the delegation from the Embassy. Above, Amb. Garza and Guadalupe Alejandre are surrounded by Embassy officials and children under treatment at the center.

U.S. companies Whirlpool and Church & Dwight donated the industrial-sized washer and a year’s worth of laundry detergent, respectively. An Embassy-wide auction also raised over USD $15,000 from Embassy employees and their families. “The Embassy’s efforts demonstrate our continuing commitment to helping those in need, to remembering our shared humanity that knows no borders, and to our belief that by giving generously to others, we enrich our own lives immeasurably,” said Amb. Garza.
