Amb. Garza Visits Merida and Playa del Carmen
On November 6, 2006, Amb. Garza visited Merida to inaugurate the new U.S. Consulate. Amb. Garza also traveled to Playa del Carmen to witness the signing of two Letters of Collaboration: one will develop a U.S. government-funded project to improve municipal water treatment; the other one promotes cooperation on environmental protection projects throughout the region.

Ambassador Garza traveled to Playa del Carmen to witness the signing of Letters of Collaboration between the Water Utility (CAPA) and the Secretariat of Tourism (SEDETUR)of Quintana Roo, and the Embassy’s U.S. Agency for International Development. Ambassador Garza also presented an award to the Hotel Viva Wyndham Azteca as the first Mexican hotel to obtain the internationally recognized Green Globe Certification for reducing environmental impacts.
