Greeting card with artwork by Victor Mendez

The Ambassador, the First Lady and Down Foundation students

Ambassador Garza's card carries a print of the oil painting "Bullfighter" by Victor Mendez, a Mexican student at the John Langdon Down Foundation for children with Down syndrome. The artist was unable to attend the Los Pinos presentation for reasons of health, but he was represented by his classmates Mynca Pacheco, Erik Alcantara and Vicente Morales Becker.

The John Langdon Down Foundation was established in Mexico in 1972, the first of its kind in Latin America. In 1993, the art workshop began, which led to today's Mexican School of Down Art. Foundation Director Susana Villanueva and professor Silvia Garcia Escamilla joined the students in the card presentation to Mrs. Fox.

"Los Aguiluchos" to take part
in the Rose Parade

The first Mexican marching band to participate in the Rose Parade in Los Angeles came for their visa appointment December 10. The Ambassador greeted the Aguiluchos (Baby Eagles) from Puebla, telling the high schoolers about the 115-year history of the Tournament of Roses. He praised the band and said they would be the pride of Mexico on New Year's Day.
