Ambassador Garza Praises Results of Fondo Unido
Charity Efforts in Mexico
"A special effort by a few people can make a big difference in the lives of
people with special needs," said U. S. Ambassador Antonio O. Garza,
Jr. while greeting happy recipients of funds raised by the American
Charity Golf and Tennis Classic and distributed through the Fondo
Unido.
Ambassador Garza praised the work done by the Mexico City affiliate of the
United Way and the organizers of the annual American Charity Classic
to raise funds. Eight organizations received awards of 100,000
pesos each for their programs, which provide homes for abandoned
or abused children, training and education for the disadvantaged,
as well as special competitions for the mentally and physically
handicapped.
