U.S. Ambassador Tony Garza Hosted a Reception to Celebrate the Signing of an Agreement between Mexic-Arte and CONACULTA

Ambassador Tony Garza hosted a reception on June 3 to celebrate the signing of the formal agreement between the Mexic-Arte Museum of Austin, Texas, and the Consejo Nacional de Arte y Cultura (CONACULTA), which expands the Museum's mandate to promote Mexican art. The agreement establishes a long-term program to exhibit pre-Columbian to contemporary Mexican art and to develop related educational materials for the people of Texas.

The Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, Texas, has been the principal museum dedicated to Mexican and Mexican American art and culture for almost twenty years, and was recently designated the official Texas State Mexican and Mexican American Art Museum. The Museum is dedicated to cultural enrichment and education through the presentation and promotion of traditional contemporary Mexican, Latino and Latin American art and culture.

Plans are underway for the first exhibit under this agreement, which the Museum hopes to open next year within the celebration of its 20th anniversary.
