Ambassador
Garza guest of honor at concert by
Lincoln Center Jazz
Orchestra and
Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis
Ambassador Garza was a guest of honor at the concert offered
on March 18, 2004, for Mexico City public elementary and secondary
school students by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and its
Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis. “Art, in all its forms, is one of the human
expressions that unites us all in a very special way,” said the
Ambassador at the Main Square in Mexico City, where the concert
took place. “Jazz is a universal language that the people of
the United States gave to the world and Wynton Marsalis, U.S.
Cultural Ambassador, has been very generous by sharing his great
artistic sensibility with the young Mexican people gathered here
today,” Garza added.

Marsalis, the LCJO visited Mexico to offer a series of concerts for the
Mexico City Historical Center Festival, and his
participation was co-sponsored by the Department
of State’s CultureConnect Program and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City.
